1) UK smartphone spend to overtake tablet:
Spend via smartphones will outperform spend via tablets in 2018 as sales decline and the growing screen size on smartphones means shopping is easier.
By 2022, spend via smartphone is expected to account for 23.8% of all online expenditure, up from 15.1% in 2017.
2) Mobile is the preferred channel for reading email:
Return Path has revealed that mobile is now the preferred channel for email, with 55% of email now being opened on mobile devices - up from just 29% in 2012.
3) Live chat increases conversions:
According to a LiveChat report, visitors invited to chat are 6.3 times more likely to convert into customers than those who don’t; with 61% of those customers converting within the first chat. Research shows that starting a chat with potential visitors drastically increases the chances of turning them into customers.
4) Mature age group fastest growing on Twitter:
The 55-64 year age bracket is the fastest growing demographic on Twitter with 79% growth rate since 2012; the fastest growing demographic on Facebook and Google+ is the 45-54 year age bracket.
5) Email marketing is more effective:
A study by Campaign Monitor has claimed that email ranks above all other channels as the most effective marketing method. 66% of those businesses surveyed ranked email marketing as more effective than social media, print marketing or SEO marketing.
6) Customers are more impatient than ever:
A new survey by Fetch and YouGov has discovered that 42% of UK consumers now say they are more impatient today than they were five years ago, mainly due to an over-reliance on technology to complete everyday life activities. This means that it is even more critical that users find the information they need on websites as quickly and easily as possible, to prevent them getting frustrated and going elsewhere.
7) The value of investing in video marketing is HUGE:
We saw some great video stats from an infographic created by websitebuilder this month, a few key ones are:
70% of US ad agencies believe video is the most effective form of marketing
42% of retailers use videos in their marketing emails
Globally, 75% of mobile traffic will be video by 2020
According to Facebook, by 2018. 90% of their content will be video based.
CTR of video ads is 18 times more than html banners.
